For as long as I can remember, my mother has always tried to guide me. Of course, growing up, I thought I knew everything and wanted to do things my own way. It wasn't until I got older and consciously decided to listen to her guidance that I truly began to understand the wisdom behind everything she had been telling me.

Before I allowed myself to receive her guidance, I was honestly lost. I was living day to day without much of a plan. I had so many ideas and dreams, but I lacked the discipline, structure, and follow-through to bring them to life. I was also disconnected from myself spiritually. My mother helped me understand that having a vision is only the beginning, you have to create structure around that vision and be accountable to yourself if you want to see it manifest.

My mother has supported me in almost every chapter of my life. When I was a little girl and wanted to start a slime business at school, she took me to the store, bought the supplies, and helped me make the slime. When I wanted to study agriculture, she helped me with my admissions essay and supported me in securing a full scholarship through the USDA. When I wanted to start my YouTube channel, she gave me access to her camera before I could afford my own. When I began building my businesses, she helped me create budgets, routines, and systems to keep me organized.

But her impact on me goes far beyond business.

She has taught me accountability, discernment, financial responsibility, discipline, and the importance of believing in myself. She has always encouraged me to be fully myself, even when being different wasn't always easy. She never made me feel strange, too ambitious, or less than. Instead, she constantly reminded me of my worth and taught me how to recognize and communicate my value.

Spiritually, she has also helped me reconnect with myself in a much deeper way. She taught me about honoring my ancestors, being connected to nature, treating myself as a sacred spiritual altar, and understanding the divinity within me. She showed me that being a woman is powerful and that I never have to dim my light to make someone else comfortable.

One of the greatest things my mother has helped me recognize in myself is my own leadership. She saw something in me that I hadn't fully recognized yet. She taught me to see myself as someone capable of creating, organizing, leading, and making things happen. She taught me that there is no limit to what I can dream about or accomplish.

Having my mother as a mentor isn't always easy. She's my mom, so sometimes I have questioned whether she's giving me advice because she's being protective or because she genuinely sees something I don't. But one thing I can always count on is her honesty. She will tell me the truth even when it's uncomfortable, and she will call me out when I'm wrong just as quickly as she'll celebrate me when I'm right. And, more times than I'd like to admit, I eventually realize she was right.

What makes her guidance so powerful is that it comes from a place of genuine love. She doesn't just tell me what I want to hear. She helps me get things in order. She helps me make a plan when I'm overwhelmed. She checks in when I'm procrastinating. She pushes me to finish what I start because she knows I'm capable of more.

Because of my mother's guidance, I am becoming a woman who knows who she is and who she is becoming. I know there is no limit to my dreams. I know I am divine. I know I am powerful. And I know that when I put my mind, energy, and discipline behind something, I have the ability to make it thrive.

And today, I can honestly say that I am witnessing the best version of my mother I've ever known. She is radiant. She is present. She is loving. She is becoming more and more free. She has taken everything she's experienced, the beautiful, the painful, the lessons, the mistakes, and turned it into wisdom that she can now pour into other people.

That is what Ama Nomy means to me.

Working with Ama Nomy over the last two years has been an integral part of my journey in learning how to integrate the spiritual with the mundane, especially as it relates to deepening in my entrepreneurship journey. Although we are related through marriage, we are definitely spiritual cousins. We would always have conversations that revolved around the current happenings and spirituality. Every so often, Ama Nomy would get a message that she just had to share with me. In almost all instances, she was right.

The one that I remember the most was pertaining to my current business. It was 2021. I was still teaching at the time. At this moment, I had been in education for 20 years. I was getting tired of the politics of the job and the changes that I was noticing. She just happened to give me a call around Christmas of that year. We talked and she shared that she had a message for me. She was telling me that she had a vision where I was still teaching in a sense but not the children. She also shared that she saw coins falling.

Yes, I was interested in looking for a different job at that time, but I never thought outside of education. In my mind, what else could I do? I literally disregarded the message. I was going to be a teacher for life. This was going to be the first time Ama Nomy would be a little off with her prediction.

Fast forward the very next year — by this time I was absolutely done with teaching. There was no way I would have been able to last for 4 months let alone 5 years. I just so happened to be talking to my insurance agent about changing my current policy. She happened to be a former teacher as well. We started talking about our frustrations in education and I was intrigued. By the end of the year, I was an insurance agent. I left my job of 21 years and started my own business in the insurance industry.

The following year I became a registered rep and our conversation that took place two years earlier came to mind. She was right. I was a financial professional. My job revolved around teaching people about insurance and investment options. I was teaching about money — those were the coins.

This experience did lead me down a path that helped me to focus more on my connection with Source / God / the Universe. It proved to me that if I just stayed the course, the Universe will show up and I will be exactly where I am supposed to be. It also reminded me that I would receive confirmations along the way to help me stay the course. Ama Nomy was my confirmation.
